FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS
My affinity towards building might very well be genetic. My great-grandfather owned a local lumber yard. My grandfather was a successful contractor. My father studied architecture and my parents were “flipping” houses before there was a term for it.
My personal love for residential buildings started at a young age. By the time I graduated from high school I had lived in five different homes. Seeing first hand how space could be transformed from awkward and unsightly to beautiful and functional helped create my ability to see the potential in a house. After graduating from college with a degree in business management and studying industrial design at Kendall School of Art, I have been a licensed Real Estate Agent, a finish carpenter, and a Designer and Project Coordinator for an up-scale renovation firm. When my wife, Alison, and I bought our first house, we started our married life flipping the home we lived in, just like my parents used to do. We haven’t stopped since. As our family grew to four children, our housing needs changed as well. Each phase of our life created different demands of our living space. Living in so many homes has made me realize that there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to space. The way a family actually uses the space is essential to creating a solution tailored to the people living in it. Through all of these varied perspectives (son, student, husband, father, realtor, carpenter, designer, project coordinator) I came to realize that someone must invest the time to really understand the way a family lives and, using that knowledge, look for innovative ways to re-imagine their current space. The result is a unique design that has all the pizzazz of a typical huge renovation, but usually with more functional appeal costing 10’s of thousands of dollars less. Then controlling the construction of that design is what insures an outcome that exceeds expectations. Griffin Remodeling Design + Build was created out of a belief that homeowners deserve a way to transform their home not just fix it. My greatest joy is seeing the smiles, and sometime tears, as the homeowner tours the finished project for the first time. It is a tribute to what we have accomplished together. I would welcome the opportunity to partner with you to create a home that fits you again - creating the space you crave in the space you have. Geoff |
